The 2022 FIFA World Cup has seen its first upset as Saudi Arabia outclass Argentina to win their first match of the competition.

Argentina come into this game having not lost a single match this year, drawing just one of their nine games.

They (Argentina) started on a strong foot, taking possession and causing lots of trouble.

They eventually rewarded from the pressure as Saudi Arabia conceded a penalty.

Saudi Arabia defender dragged Leandro Paredes and after the VAR was consulted, a penalty was awarded.

Lionel Messi slotted in the resulting penalty as he became the second oldest goalscorer at the FIFA World Cup in Argentina history.

However, Saudi Arabia turned the table around in the second half.

In the 48th minute, assisted by Feras Al Brikan, Saleh Al Shehri left footed shot from the left side of the box made its way to the bottom right corner.

Saudi Arabia built on the goal and in the 53rd minute, it paid off.

Salem Al Dawsari right footed shot from the left side of the box made its way to the top right corner.

Despite mounting pressure on Saudi Arabia, Argentina could not found a way.

Argentina will be eager to win their second match.
